Phew!! Yay I finished it!
You can't imagine the pain in the ar$se that was cutting the tree. It's actually like 4 trees with stuff repeated all over the place. I was about to throw the computer through the window xD. And the sky... dear God, the sky!!
Entry for Wacom's Bring Your Vision To Life contest. I was so incredibly busy, it's a miracle I finished this just in time, but I wanted to enter so bad (:
Let me explain a little bit about the concept. It's basically "absurd opposites". Since the theme of the contest was good vs. evil, light vs. dark, order vs. chaos, etc etc, I thought I would look at it in another way, instead of just using the obvious, wich is something light and something dark (usually a hot chick with black clothers and another hot chick with white clothes dwelling with each other or something like that).
Here, you can see a scenery that's upside down, and a tree that's been nurtured by clouds and the sky, but that has its branches completely dry, reaching to a dry land that has nothing to offer. The sky represents ideals, inspiration, a will to work, whilst the dry land represents the lack of passion. I enfasize with this that one has to search for any sort of inspiration, something that makes you alive, that makes life worth living. And the scenery containing this two opposite "situations" lets us choose, if we want to be just miserable, or just be happy.
And on a formal level, the image is completely upside down, it's completely absurd. The gravity kind of flows from the center. You see the leaves fallen from the branches wich are suppossed to be upside down, etc etc.
There are a lot of details to see. I love that about this image! But it took sooooo longgg. The psd file is insane, and it doesn't look that complicated ._. that's a bit frustrating! haha. The idea also was that you could be able to see it upside down (: I think it looks nice! Some people don't think it works, though,
anyway. From this side looks good.
